One of the first movies that excited my nerves about horror films was Don Coscarelli’s Phantasm. Every few years I would rewatch it, but find that my enchantment with flying-silver-spheres-of-death and tall men referred to as The Tall Man dwindled. The charm, awe, and terror that drew me into Phantasm proceeded to wan, but I couldn’t dismiss the impact it had on me.
Well, maybe ‘impact’ is too strong of a word. The relationship I developed with Phantasm was along the lines of a rough draft that could benefit from some retooling. Or, in this case, some massive retooling. Fortunately, the guys over at Fix-A-Flick gave me the opportunity to remake Phantasm in my image.
